Price Band

price band is the difference between floor price and a cap price between which a seller will let buyers place bids on a security, usually during an initial public offering (IPO). It is a range of price at which IPO is bid for. The price band's floor and cap provide guidance to the buyers.

For example, let's say Company Alpha is going to go public. As part of the IPO process, Bank ABC (Company Alpha's investment bank) sets a price band on its shares between Rs. 400 per share to Rs. 450 per share. This means that buyers must bid at least Rs. 400 a share for the first issue of the shares.

It is the company which files the IPO decides about price band with assistance from lead managers or merchant bankers. Lead managers do a detailed market study competitive analysis to find out the right range.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA), which uses software robots or ‘bots’ to mimic human activity, has the potential to unlock yet more value by freeing up employees to focus on value-added work – ultimately transforming the way the financial services sector operates. A game changer for the industry will be the start of the processes to replace people with robotics and machine learning.

Financial Resilience

Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from the difficulties.  Financial resilience is the ability to withstand life events that impact one’s income and/or assets. Some financially stressful events, such as unemployment, divorce, disability, and health problems affect people individually. Others, such as recessions, stock market downturns, and acts of terrorism, affect society as a whole. Financial resilience is how quickly one can come out from these set backs. Financial resiliency is enhanced with financial resources, such as savings, health insurance, and a good-paying job. Another resource is one’s human capital.
